Participation in a conference during a pandemic

(measures in force at the date of January 10, 2022)

Dear on-site participants,

In order to hold the conference in a hybrid format, we kindly ask you to study the following information and adapt to it.

The omicron variant of covid-19 will unfortunately prevail in the Czech Republic in the second half of January, very likely increasing the number of infections and probably forcing the tightening of some anti-pandemic measures.

At present, the following requirements apply:

I) For those who travel to Prague from abroad:

There is an obligation for persons arriving from all countries (including the low-risk green category) to provide a completely filled arrival form. The conditions of arrival of foreigners from countries with a low risk of infection (green category) and medium risk of infection (orange category) are being tightened in order to prevent the spread of the omicron. It will be necessary to undergo an antigen or PCR test from the green and orange countries before entry and after entering the territory of the Czech Republic on days 5-7 to undergo a PCR test.

As majority of European countries fall now into red (high risk) or dark red (very high risk) category, the incoming foreigners who do not have a residence permit in the Czech Republic will be obliged to have a negative PCR test result before entering the Czech Republic. This includes foreigners who have completed vaccinations or have had covid-19.

II) For all on site participants of the conference the following rules apply:

So far, we can, and it is very likely that there will be no change in this, hold events with about 100 people in the hall, i.e. events of the size of the upcoming conference. However, access to the conference is subject to control and security measures.

As it is prohibited to allow participation in the event by persons who show clinical signs of covid-19, we'll be taking everyone's temperature with a non-contact thermometer.

At the same time, anyone arriving must prove that they have:  

Completed vaccination against covid-19, with a vaccine that has been granted registration in the EU, i.e. following the Regulation 726/2004, and prove it with an EU COVID digital certificate, or a national certificate issued in English by an authorised person in a non-EU country, showing when and with what vaccine the person presenting the certificate was vaccinated, who issued the certificate - this information must be verifiable by remote access.

Alternatively, it is possible to prove oneself with a still valid PCR-test with a negative result, i.e. not older than 72 hours, but this is only possible for persons who cannot be vaccinated against covid-19. This must be supported by a medical certificate explicitly stating that the person cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

Alternatively, it is possible to prove that the attending person had laboratory-confirmed covid-19 disease, the period of ordered isolation has elapsed, and no more than 180 days have elapsed since the first positive rapid antigen test (RAT) for SARS-CoV-2 antigen or RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Therefore, we recommend that all on site participants have a valid certificate of completed covid-19 vaccination (or recent illness covid-19) available for inspection on the day of the conference. Without it, it is preferable to participate remotely - on line.

A respirator of category FFP2 must be worn in the faculty building; exceptions, of course, are made for speakers during the performance.
